learning

I'm already learning a lot from my new book (see the side bar to the right). With just a few pages read, I've learned that little Asher is probably over-tired (hence why he is SO cranky at night). So yesterday he took 3 good naps and was fast asleep by 8:15 pm and slept until 7 am with only one feeding at 2 am. Granted most (ok all) of this sleeping was done in the swing but it was sleeping nonetheless.

For about two 1/2 days he did so wonderfully in the crib. Went down without a peep. Now he screams absolute bloody murder the second I put him in it. So I'm going to finish reading my book to learn more skills and try again.

What is that?!! ZZZZZZZZZZZZ..the sound of a happy baby, sound asleep. It doesn't matter where he is sleeping, it only matters that he is sleeping. He will soon sleep in a bed where he can stretch out. After all, you never see a teenager sleeping in a baby swing!

I have heard good things about that book but luckily never needed it. Good luck!

I am so on board with Grandma Nutt! One thing you learn with the more children you have is that everything is a phase. Right now is Asher's time to sleep in his swing, so let him do so! It will pass and one day he will sleep happily in his crib, which will soon enough turn into a bed. Take advantage of good sleeping, regardless of where it is and don't stress about little things like that. They will pass!

My mistake was letting my first born sleep on my chest all the time, I was not getting any sleep and as soon as I placed him down he would squawk so back on my chest he would go... lesson learned.

Mason slept in his papasan chair until he was 4 months old, we didn't even try the crib.

Yay for the swing! Chloe swung our swing into the ground. Good going Asher - sleep is good.

That book is my baby bible. I have used its methods with all of my kids and they have all been GREAT sleepers..3 naps a day and 12 hours a night! In fact, it is time for a refresher course with Miley Moo! I know many people don't believe in sleep training but kids DO get overly tired and can't fall asleep AND I firmly believe self-soothing is an essential skill they have to LEARN, even if it means crying it out a bit.

Good luck and believe me, a healthy sleeper means the WHOLE family is happier!

I'm so glad you're reading about these things. I wish I would've have "helped" Lane become a better sleeper at Asher's age. Be tough mama...Lane cried himself to sleep(not all of the time, but most) until he climbed out of his crib at 2 yrs. 3 mons. Crying is not the best self-soothing method, but that is what worked for him. Good luck and yes, most of these behaviors are just a phase! May the force be with you!

I love this book. I'm still waiting for the sleeping-through-the-night event that everyone keeps telling me about. Does it even exist??? Finn loves his swing too, but I use it after his 7 am feeding so I can go back to bed (it has one of those vibration modes on it, and it works wonders!)
