Once again, I am using this blog to solicit suggestions and advise. One of the hundreds of things I have left to do, is select an assortment of songs to make up the background music. I know everyone out there has great ideas as to what songs would make good wedding music. I would prefer them to be less on the cheezy side. And for those of you who might be wondering, Olivia Newton John's "I Honestly Love You" and other such delights are definitely on the cheezy side.

Music Makes the People Come Together
Once again, I am using this blog to solicit suggestions and advise. One of the hundreds of things I have left to do, is select an assortment of songs to make up the background music. I know everyone out there has great ideas as to what songs would make good wedding music. I would prefer them to be less on the cheezy side. And for those of you who might be wondering, Olivia Newton John's "I Honestly Love You" and other such delights are definitely on the cheezy side.

Ok, well anyone "who might be wondering" if something by ONJ is "on the cheezy side" really should not be permitted to comment on this blog. Period.
I would just like to say anything made between the years 80-89 should never be played in a public forum where people are helpless to choose what music to listen to. For a romantic pink themed wedding I would suggest:

What music are you going to dance to? I ask because I am the owner of the 4 disc set of 'Learn to Dance for your wedding and how not to look like a dork in the process' or some such title. Really. I have said such DVD's. I bought them when I was putting on the Roadshows. You can borrow them they are a hoot and quite educational. But only if you plan on doing that first wedding dance thing. If not, then never mind. I will save it for an upcoming A.S.S. reunion, right after the Tom Trails Reader's Theater and the Pride and Prejudice Ball:)
oh, and I forgot. Might I suggest the P & P soundtrack (the 6 hour version although the new version is good too) for your mood music. I have it and you can borrow it. I bought it for our YM/YW Pride & Prejudice ball. Oh, do play it. Mr. Collin's Canon and Lizzie's theme, ooh, that would set me up forever. I also know the complete dance choreography to the famous dance where Lizzie and Darcy fight (it's really called Mr. Beveridge's Faggot, faggot meaning favorite) Yep, taught it to all our young men and young women, well, Kenzie did. But you will need cravats for the men...call me, I have some left over.
Be sure to include some old fam fav's from the soundtrack of "Strictly Ballroom". Come on, doesn't that bring back memories? Especially "Love is in the Air" and "Rumba de Burro". Come on, you gotta put in some songs with real family history and meaning. These are my last comments. Really.
How 'bout the soundtrack from My Best Friend's Wedding then we can all join in together and sing "I Say A Little Prayer".

Forgive me for commenting on your wedding music. Music isn't really my thing, but I do have an opinion. I believe the soundtrack to "The Three Amigos" to be among the best wedding songs I have ever heard. You could do your wedding dance to "My Little Buttercup", an all time classic. In fact, Chad..son of Jeff, know the complete dance by heart if you're interested. Just a thought.
Also, in light of your recent allergic reaction....how about including Bob Seger's "CATmandu".
I have the soundtrack to Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo...no joke you can borrow it anytime.
my serious thoughts on this are that you and quinn sit down together and pick songs you both really like and then burn a nice mix. that's what jake and i did, and we still have our background music cd, which is similar to the one we gave as favors.
i got caught up in some songs being too fast or inappropriate for a wedding (everybody hurts by r.e.m. anyone?) i realized it didn't matter so much and i just wanted songs i liked, and even a few that jake liked, although his crazy german acid rock did not make the final cut.
bottom line, you don't have to run canon in d on a continuous loop or anything...do something fun! and if they are favorites from both of you, you will have a cherished momento for years to come. the end.
I recommend some Lional Richie. (his old stuff) You can't go wrong. Jenn
